In our creative and dynamic environment, fresh ideas keep popping up.

We selected the best of them to research their possibilities, design the experiences, and develop them into a proof-of-concept prototype.

Circular Wave

Circular Wave

Circular Wave is a computational art algorithm we designed inspired by the form of waves. To represent wave’s boundless property, we enclosed them in a circle form. With various adjustable parameters, countless beautiful art pieces can be obtained.

Dynamic Alphabet

Dynamic Alphabet

Dynamic Alphabet is our experiment on geometric objects inserted into the space within hollow alphabet. Squares and circles in this dynamic computational art randomly change their sizes and we let physics rule adjust their positions, creating controlled yet unexpected effects on the letters.

AR Jutsu

AR Jutsu brings you to the Shinobi World and allows you to play with different jutsus in AR. Choose your favourite jutsu and bring it to live!

Audio-Driven Generative Art

For this experiment, our objective is to create a visualizer that responds to the volume of a given sound. A reactive pattern can be made by inputting an audio file and several background images, then our app will automatically generate a series of lines with different spacing following the loudness of the sound rhythm. In terms of flexibility, scale and composition of patterns can be adjusted by changing parameter values. Patterns can also be exported to various canvas sizes and resolutions. The result: a visual representation of the selected music that fits any display format.

Geometric Clock

Geometric Clock

Geometric Clock is our experiment on a digital clock that tell times using simple 3D shapes. Number of shapes on the screen tell how much time has passed. Three columns are used for hours, minutes and seconds.

Geometric Weather Report

Geometric Weather Report

Geometric Weather Report is an installation that uses 3D cylinders to report wind direction in a stylish way. Cylinders are formed as a flow field that bends with the flow of air. The direction of each cylinder tells the direction the wind is blowing. Each column of the cylinders represent one timestep of 15 minutes. We can report both wind direction in the past and the predicted future direction with this installation.

bit.evolution

bit.evolution

bit.evolution, "Hatch Your Dinosaur!" is an activity for children which focuses on creative play; play using creativity and imagination. ‍ The eggs which appear on the screen hatch into baby dinosaurs and grow into adult dinosaurs over time. This provide children with an element of surprise!

bit.balloon

bit.balloon

bit.balloon is an interactive installation that allows users to control a virtual balloon’s open flame, making it buoyant, just by turning a knob.

(A)I Feel

(A)I Feel

(A)I Feel is a project dedicated to find answers to our questions by creating a teaching & learning process between humans and a machine. To teach the machine, it asks each user to draw a picture which represents a specific emotion. The picture will be recognized then memorized as one of representatives of the emotion. Then, to demonstrate what the machine has learned, the user can draw pictures to portray his/her emotion at the moment. The machine will interpret user’s emotion and colors the picture accordingly. The whole process will be visualized as an interactive installation which encourages people to participate in the project.

bit.shadowplay.gan

bit.shadowplay.gan

We present a shadow play system that displays in real-time the extrapolated motion sequences of the still shadow images casted by players. The crux of our system is a sequential version of the recently developed generative adversarial neural networks with a stack of LSTMs as the sequence controller. We train the model with preprocessed image sequences of diverse shadow figures’ motions, and use it in our enhanced shadow play system to automatically animate the shadows as if they were alive.

bit.stippling

bit.stippling

Take your photo in style with bit.stippling, a project that stipples your photo and lets you enjoy it dot by dot as your photo gradually appears on the screen!

bit.bot

bit.bot

bit.bot is an experiment by our interns to create an adorable robot capable of assisting humans with various tasks such as drawing, cooking, or searching for videos online. bit.bot is built using a Raspberry Pi equipped with a small screen that allows it to display various facial expressions and a pico projector to show videos to humans. After hearing the hotword “bitbot,” humans can make queries, which are then processed by the AI system. bit.bot then displays various facial expressions on the small screen and presents the corresponding result videos.

Unified Reality

Unified Reality

Unified Reality is a unified framework for virtual reality, augmented reality, and projection mapping developed by bit.studio. By connecting virtual, augmented, and physical world together, we introduce a shared experience platform which encourages different approaches of technology to interact with one another.

bit.lighthouse

bit.lighthouse

Lighthouse allows a VR user to move freely in a cuboid space. Thanks to engineers in Vive’s team, it works by spreading and sweeping light beams across the entire room to aid the position tracking of the headset

Constellations

Constellations

When we were young, playing with shadows could bring us way further than we saw. Those shadow puppets in our imagination can move and travel to any place. We aim to recreate and enhance this vivid experience with a mixture of art and technology. Turning the shadow casted from players’ hands into living animals that fly into the sky, shining bright as they turn into constellations.

Shadow Play

Shadow Play

At bit.studio, we seek joy in simple things and love to enhance the experience. For this Shadow Play project, we looked back on our childhood and found one of the most primitive interactive play; hand shadow puppet. Our team decided to bring those nostalgic hand animals to life by integrating technology with aesthetic and bring joy to our audience.

The Three Little Pigs

The Three Little Pigs

Inspired by “The Three Little Pigs”, a famous fairy tale of our childhood, this project allows each player to take a role of a piglet in the story. Wearing the same top and having the player’s name above its head, the piglet starts a journey from the mother’s home into the village. Without its knowing, there is a big bad wolf lingering in the nearby forest waiting for a chance to catch its prey. It is up to the player to keep the piglet safe from becoming the wolf’s meal!

Our Father’s Journey

Our Father’s Journey

In remembrance of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, we created a project which expressed our gratitude to him for all the works he had done for us, his people.

Small World

Small World

Virtual Reality lets you experience another world in which only you exist, much like when you are at the height of your concentration or when you are focused on something so much that the world around you fades. 'Small World' is represented using the concept of two worlds: the inside world, which represents the inside of your mind, and the outside world, which is the product of the movement from the inside world.

Alpha Circular Motion

Alpha Circular Motion

Inspired by a kinetic art, α Circular Motion was born to study on generation of movements using a circular motion. Wave and harmonic movements was created in this work of art.

Woodland

Woodland

Inspired by a children picture book which features three little mice living in a tree log house. Woodland was created to let you interact with the fairy tale, using technologies to represent the world in half physical half digital.

bit.box

bit.box

bit.box lets you experience the feeling of having different kinds of hands. In this work, the user can use their own hands to control the motion of many types of hands. How the hand moves will depend on the anatomy of that hand. Since each user has different experiences, they will be able to create their own individual stories with the hands.

VR Playground

VR Playground

What would it be like to be in a piece of art? By using Virtual Reality, VR Playground lets you experience the world inside the two most famous works of art: Guernica by Pablo Picasso and The Persistence of Memory by Salvador Dali.

Long Rak Pid Thong

Long Rak Pid Thong

We would like to represent traditional Thai cultures using technology as the medium. Out of the many Thai traditions, we have chosen Mural Painting to be represented in a new way that allows the viewer to become a part of the art piece, thus providing a new perspective.
