Project Astra

A research prototype exploring breakthrough capabilities for Google products — on the way to building a universal AI assistant

Project Astra is reimagining how we interact with AI assistants, and bit.studio is proud to be part of the team behind it.

Project Mariner

Project Astra is a bold step toward building a universal AI assistant, and we’re thrilled to have helped shape it. Developed as a research prototype, Astra offers seamless communication with AI agents through text, audio, and video streaming.

Agent Highlighting

One of the key features we’re especially proud of, agent highlighting, helps users follow what the AI is seeing, thinking, and doing through simple visual cues. It gives the AI a new visual layer of communication, helping users stay in sync with what the agent is focused on.

From personalized reasoning to fluid multilingual audio conversations, Astra offers a glimpse into a future where AI assistants feel less like tools and more like collaborators.

AI Tutor Research Prototype

One way we’re exploring this future is through a conversational AI tutor, a prototype that applies Astra’s core capabilities to help with learning.

We helped develop an experience where Astra can assist with homework, identifies mistakes, and generate diagrams to explain tricky concepts in real time. It’s a look at how Astra could support not just everyday tasks, but curiosity and learning too.
