Located in the north of Miyun County, 130 kilometers northeast of Beijing, Simatai has earned UNESCO’s recognition as a World Cultural Heritage site and has been hailed as the epitome of the Great Wall.
Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 crisis, traveling to see the wall in person has become impossible.
As a solution, we have created an AR app that provides viewers with an immersive experience of the wall, complete with the ability to explore its detailed architecture from various angles.
Utilizing drones, aerial images are captured to create a 3D mesh topography of the designated area, which, when combined with the Great Wall’s blueprint, result in the creation of 3D models and textures of the wall and its surrounding landscape. We have also incorporated captivating animations to enhance the AR experience. To witness the beauty of the Simatai Great Wall, viewers can simply scan the blueprint at the station and immerse themselves in the interactive AR experience.
